Anakin didn’t need her expression to tell him she was lying, he could feel that too. His brow knit together, not liking it one bit. Why should she lie to him?

“Of course I still do.” His feelings for her had only grown stronger since that first moment he met her back on Tatooine all those years ago. He’d always known what she meant to him and he’d never wavered in his knowledge of that. But, to her, until just a few weeks ago fate had put them together again, he had merely been a strange, little boy picked up at random in her larger adventure to save her planet. She had not always felt for him the same he felt for her.

“Why?” He looked down, not daring to see what might be written across her face before she spoke it. He almost couldn’t ask, for fear of the answer. “Do you not feel the same for me anymore?”
